About
Chris Beckman lives in Seattle, where he works as a software engineer. He holds a B.F.A. in photography, a B.A. in journalism, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa.
Chris’s love of photography started with his first film 35mm camera, a handed-down Canon AE-1 that had an incredible high pitch and bizarre shutter noise. He treats it as a conceptual practice: a collection of readymades, with a little bit of printmaking thrown in.
His photography examines public spaces, unintentional forms, semiotics, and community detritus. His work has been featured in The Iowa Review and Iowa Now.
